We are trying to send output signals from different sources to the Qu-24. Only the sounds from the DAW is working. Other sources like for example Spotify is not working.
Does anyone knows what steps we need to take to solve this? We´re using a Windows laptop.
Using a DAW with ASIO, which is required to use multitrack recording and playback on Windows, blocks the Interface completely for other applications.
If you only use WDM/DirectX you have three virtual sound devices which can be used independently.
Do you know what is the quality (bitrate) for WDM? I have a software that works only with WDM drivers. ASIO driver has noise like the bit crusher effect.
With WDM, there is an extra management layer (Windows) which means you can use the device with any app within Windows (and multiple apps simultaneously) as the expense of performance and channel count/routing options.
ASIO effectively accesses the device directly, with Qu this provides more channels and better performance regarding latency.
Generally speaking, WDM is good for playback and stereo recording/streaming or when the app does not support ASIO.
ASIO is better for use with DAW’s and other professional audio and video apps.
But of course you can contact us directly about it by submitting a ticket using support.allen-heath.com - every situation and setup is slightly different so there’s not really a one size fits all solution.
