Multiple playback channels for virtual soundtrack

I would like a way to have virtual Soundcheck playback 1 track to multiple IPs. Virtual sound check right now only allows a 1 to 1 relationship. For instance, I record my kick drum on Dante channel 1. When I go to virtual soundtrack the kick drum input changes to receive information from Dante channel 1. However, for many of my set ups, I split that preamp to multiple channels. I don’t want to record multiple instances of the same preamp, but it would be great if went in virtual soundtrack mode that recording from the preamp could feed multiple channels.

This would allow me to record my kick drum mic to a single track but play it back to three different IP’s, 1 for front of house, 1 for broadcast, 1 one for monitors. The only workaround I have right now is to record three tracks of the exact same information which wastes channel count for virtual sound check.

Wouldn’t that be more of a function of the Dante config at the recording/playback source, setting up a multicast broadcast of that channel for playback instead of unicast.

I mean you could just do it via tie lines, or direct outs, patched multiple times as you need, then save patch libraries for record send, and playback.

Why not do the multiple channel patch in Dante controller instead?

I agree with this request. That being said, there is an internal/in console work around currently.

While there is no way to do this currently using the “Virtual Sound Check” option/routing (because it is limited to a 1 to 1 scheme for some reason), you can use the channel ABCD source option. For example, you can use the A, B, and C sources for “live” use, and set the D source with the needed Virtual Sound Check routing. You can double patch the ABCD routing, even when using a digital source like a Dante/Waves I/O card.

To make this easier to use, you can set up a button (action or scene recall) to change all of the channels at once to their A B C or D sources. This can make it really easy to into / out of “VSC mode” (although you are really changing the channels to the desired A B C or D source).

Still, it would be nice to be able to double patch the Virtual Sound Check routing so that we can utilize that dedicated system as intended - even when we need to double patch sources during VSC.

I’d either Dante patch that or output that channel to multiple outs in the DAW.

Thanks Brian. Yep this is what I’m doing right now. Its a work around and a viable one, but its extra setup and programming time. I’d love to just be able to use the VSC system in the box.
