MultiTrack Issue with AB168

I have an SQ5 that has been rock solid. I normally use my AR2412 for a stage box, and I recently added an AB168 for convenience.

When I use the AB168, plugged via Dsnake to the AR2412, I get crystal clear sound. However, even though my i/o for multitrack is patched to the same outputs in the tie line section, I get levels on multitrack on whatever is plugged into the AR2412, but nothing from the AB168.

I am running the most recent firmware.

Does anyone have any thoughts or tips to rectify this issue?

Are you sure your Tie Lines are patched correctly? If you changed the order that the boxes are plugged in (ie which box is daisy chained and which one is “first” in line), it is likely the Tie Line patching is no longer valid.

Yeah, I started there. I have the AR2412 as the main. Dsnake line from there to the mixer. The AB168 goes into the expander port on the AR2412

I don’t think I understood the “Same patching” thing in your original question.

However, did you double check the patching?

On dsnake the scheme is different than with DX:

SQ inputs:

1-24 : Ar2412 (1-24)

25-40: AB168 (1-16)

SQ Outputs:

1-12: AR2412 (1-12)

13-20: AB168 (1-8

I do have that exact input and output scheme.

My inputs, just based on stage layout, are:

AR2412: inputs 1-12

AB168: inputs 1-4 (patched to inputs 25-29) for I/O

For my tie lines, I’m trying to record Multi Track to SSD.

I have the same inputs selected, as above, and I’m getting sound from inputs that are going to the main mix, but I cannot get the channels from the AB168 (25-29) to bring signal into the Multi Track recording.

I wonder if you need to have all 24 patched on the AR2412, then the next 4 on the AB168. Then disable the channels you don’t want recorded in the SQ drive.
