My LR mix is playing through my bass amp. My current setup is this: bass to DI input, DI thru to amp, DI out to snake. This has been my setup for a while and I’ve never had an issues. My console is still recieving signal from my bass, but now my amp is also playing my LR mix. So basically my XLR is sending signal both directions. Everyone I talk to keeps saying this is impossible, but that’s what’s happening so I’m a little confused. I’m thinking this is an issue with my console because I’ve tried different cables, amps, and DI boxes and nothing seems to solve the issue. I’ve also tried different channels and they all seem to have the same issue. For context, we are a church worship band and use a QU 32. I’m wondering if one of my volunteers changed a setting somewhere on the console that I don’t know about. Any suggestions?
Does you church have a hearing assistance induction loop? This, in my many years dealing with both analogue and digital systems, is the most common cause of spurious signal pickup by instrument amplifiers! We once spent 2 weeks adjusting signal and electrical safety earthing arrangements, in order to rid ourselves of just such a problem!
Possibly you have altered the “Earth lift” switch on DI box.
Just a thought
Thanks for the suggestion! We do have a hearing induction loop, so maybe I’ll have to look into that. I already messed around with the “earth lift” on the DI and that didn’t seem to help at all.
A quick check is to mute, or turn down the feed to the hearing loop, while still having signal going to main FOH speakers. If the spurious pickup goes, then that is the source of the problem. What the exact solution is, short of not using the loop ( which is not a serious suggestion ) I cannot tell you without knowing in considerable detail, how everything is connected. Sorry to sound a little negative, but this can be rather a “needle in a haystack” type problem. Even for experience engineers !
Well-thought-out concepts can certainly have multiple zones.
Perhaps that’s the case here, and someone accidentally only activated the “stage zone”.
In our Church, some bright spark ran the hearing loop in the cable run around the Worship band carrying all of our A/V cables. That just played havoc with the guitarists!
I had to modify the run of the hearing loop and, lo and behold, all our problems went away.

You sure you haven’t routed the output wrong? Like maybe an aux send or something?
Sorry, but you can’t just confuse an XLR input with an output - that would require a special adapter.

And that wouldn’t be possible when conecting the DI box to an “aux send or something”.
