hi so i bought the cq20b hoping that i could connect my computer to the cq20b through a network cable directly i have been trying different things i could think of for 3 days now and still nothing. i can connect the two via wi-fi and lan connection but cannot do it direct as that is what my band want to use for gigs does anybody have info on how to do this , any help would be greatly appreciated , thanks James
90% certain it’s an IP addressing issue if you have the mixer switched to operate on the ethernet connection.
You would need to set up a static IP address on the mixer and on your computer that are in the same sub net something like 192.168.10.20 for the mixer and 192.268.10.21 for the computer. For a direct hard wire connection some equipment requires using a crossover cable to make the connections.
Easier at least for now would be to use a WIFI router with the mixer and the computer each connected to a LAN port on the WIFI router. The router will assign IP address to the mixer and computer, I’m guessing they are set for DHCP operation.
If it is working with a LAN connection, it is already working the way a network cable should work, too.
The problem could be the change between both modes.
Maybe one of the involved devices doesn’t change its settings the right way.
If you reset the device to its default network settings, the IP address for the CQ20R is set to automatic.
But the default address for manual network configuration is 192.168.1.62.
Take a look in the user guide on pages 79 and 145.
The safe way would be the router, like Mike already suggested.
You will be able to use wired and wireless connections at the same time.
