A blank custom fader layer that can be assigned to a soft key? The 4 existing layers are often needed as they are so how about an actual blank, customisable layer, if not a few?
Excuse me, but since this is your first post and possibly even your first experience with this kind of mixer:
You know that the four layers already available to you are also fully customisable, meaning that even with the smallest QU-5, you can set up 64 faders as desired?
And even if that really isn’t enough, it looks like you could also on your QU create special scenes, each of which, when recalled, provides another set of four configurable layers.
I think from the wording of the OP, the poster seems to be well aware that the stock layers can be customised, but would like to see an option for additional blank ones, so that the stock ones can stay as they are, which is useful.
I take no issue with that request, even if there are more roads leading to Rome.
I’ll +1 it.
Yes that’s right. I slightly amended my text as I realised I didn’t word things very well. An additional layer would be very useful and speed up the workflow greatly.
Yes, now it’s a bit clearer for me too.
But unfortunately, it’s not a given that newbies, in particular, know this - and we’ve even had “experts” here with it.
That’s why I asked again, apologetically. )
But I can hear the ghosts of A&H shouting, “If he needed more than 4 layers, he should have bought an SQ.” ![]()
In any case, it would be advisable for you and your supporters to vote for your proposal in the top left corner if needed.
I’d like to but in order to do that I’d need the ghosts of A&H to fix that rather silly vote count limit.
They’ve told me that in the meantime they count the +1s too.
Ah, interesting news - which A&H should also to make public!
If that’s the case, then their voting option makes absolutely no sense anymore.
So they prefer to go back to manually keeping a tally sheet, like they did many years ago, instead of simply removing their arbitrary limit?
@ A&H: But what’s the difference between giving 1000 votes and giving 1000 “+1”?
And it would be interesting to know if the OP then also has to type “+1” for their suggestion (or even multiple times) …
Of course, I can’t speak for them but I can only assume it has proven to be a bit more difficult than expected to remove or expand that vote limit.
The number of possible votes depends on the trust level - most of us will have 2 - and seems to be easily adjustable in the plugin’s setup (see image).
The purpose of the limit is actually to prevent users from mindlessly voting for everything that comes their way - just as we can’t buy everything we like, but have to be mindful of our budget.
So, it’s a kind of educational measure by A&H to encourage thoughtful action and setting priorities.
But if they circumvent even their own limitation by counting an unlimited number of +1, the voting becomes completely pointless.
I fail to see the point of a vote limit.
One should just be able to vote an idea up one likes and the amount of votes should give A&H an indication of how popular an idea is. Simple. What is broken about that which needs fixing?
With the vote limit in place, most users will just stop voting once they’ve reached the limit and what then? This completely skewes the vote count and in no reliable or helpful way.
I’ve no idea where I can find my vote count, how to retract votes etc.
It just doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do. It just ends up being an indication of the first few votes, for many users. Is that useful? I doubt it.
I just had a look around my profile and settings to see if I could find something about the votes and coudln’t even. I I quite rightly can’t be bothered beyond that point, who will?
You should make things as easy as possible for the user, not confusing.
So it is my opinion that the voting limit itself is the pointless bit.
It’s wishful thinking that it would result in a reliably prioritised voting behaviour from the users.
In my not so humble opion, of course.
@kingscotson
Sorry if this thread is completely off-topic, but i think, it’s ultimately relevant to your request.
@yves
I understand your point of view and largely agree with it.
However, this is a topic where it would be essential to hear A&H’s perspective, but they unfortunately either don’t see this thread or ignore it.
