No Errors Even Though the Surface I/O Sockets Weren’t Working

Hello, this morning all the analog I/O sockets (not sure about the digital sockets, DX ports, or I/O slots) on our S5000 were dead. Phantom power was working, but no signal was passing. Power cycling the surface fixed it, but shouldn’t there have been one of those error triangles on the screen letting me know? If not, could we add error messages for that? It’d simplify troubleshooting knowing that it’s a problem with the surface itself and not whatever’s plugged into it.

This exact thing appened to me a while back. Restarting (or a number of restarts) always resolved the problem in the short term.

Next time this happens, check that the “Ready” light on the back is NOT illuminated when the problem exists, and IS illuminated when working properly.

In my case, the internal audio board in the console needed replacing. Contact service ASAP.

Our DLive failed strangely/similarly several weeks back. All inputs were good and signals on all input channels (digital and analog) but no outputs on anything, not even signals or meters on the board. The ONLY output we had was sound on our ME’s so we used an ME to run the house. In our case we didn’t really get a chance to try some of the possible suggestions as this was right before a service. However, updating the firmware resolved things and while that doesn’t make me feel good we heard from one source it was a known issue. Hard for me to think that possible when we we running well over a year on the version we had. So start with the firmware and see if that resolves it.

Same problem here, restarting solves the issue. S3000 and dm48, latest firmware.

I just did a surface hard reset and will see how it goes.
