No Main L/R Meters on SQ6

This is just me being dumb I’m certain, but . . .

External oscillator into input 1. Input assigned to Main L/R. Main L/R fader strip showing green-light input. PAFL puts Main L/R in my phones. Input 1 shows up on Main L/R assigned to local rear panel outputs. But I can’t see any LEDs on the Main L/R meter unless it is showing PAFL(so we know the meter works). Must be some silly button I pushed. This behavior is the same in all the Scenes I tried. SMH. What the heck would cause the meter not to show Main L/R mix? Also, if Input 1 is assigned to DCA1, and removed from Main L/R, pressing PAFL on DCA1 allows me to hear tone, but there is no green LED on the DCA strip to indicate it is getting input. Someone put me back on the main path (pun intended).

Well, I guess I wasn’t crazy. I did a full reset on the panel and the meter function came right back to life. That’s good right? But also discovered that saved Scenes do not save everything (I guess I already knew that somewhere in the back of my brain) so I will need to make certain I check everything before I use it on my next recording to, hopefully, eliminate “gotchas”.

Also normal behavior for the DCA strips not to show input it seems.

Of course the simple fix does not tell me why I lost L/R meter function in the first place.

On we go.

Glad you got sorted. And yes, DCA’s won’t show any metering since DCA’s do not pass audio, they basically control only the faders, while the audio remains from the individual channels routed to Groups/Mains/Matirx and the like where you will see the correct metering.

There is a setting!

Be careful when pressing buttons in the ‘setup’ tab…

Some buttons are ‘desk wide’.

If you are experimenting, the safest thing to do (before you start) is to back-up the entire desk configuration onto a PC file (using the remote editor application) or memory stick.

In the unlikely event that you do something that cannot be easily undone, you can restore the complete state of the desk before you started fiddling.

Also, wrote down things that you do, in the order that you do them. This takes longer, but can get you out of a hole if things go wrong…

So now you tell me, Stephen. Haha.

I will never know, having gone straight to the extreme and resetting the board but that button seems like a likely suspect, however it might have gotten bumped off. Easy fix next time.

I will look into how to save the settings for the “whole board”, Dave. Thanks for reminding me of the possibility.

Check if Main L/R is assigned to the meters and not in PAFL-only mode. Also try recalling a clean Scene could be a routing glitch.

Yes, that was probably exactly the problem. I will know what to do next time.
