So had my first gig with the Qu-32 last night, decided NOT to bring my Qu-16 as a backup due to space constraints.
Bad idea.
Got the Qu set up, ran all mic cables, both AB168 dSNAKE boxes, speakers, everything.
Band is ready to soundcheck and I decide to fire up the iPad to check the room.
No connection to the console.
Hmmm, I know my Soundcraft Expression was finicky about having the router turned on before the console, so I shut everything down, reboot the router, turn on the console.
Still nothing. No connection light on the router, no flashing network light on the ethernet port on the console.
Tried my spare router, another ethernet cable, still nothing.
Luckily had the Qu manual on the iPad, dug in there, checked the Control/Network page on the console, it shows DHCP enabled with an IP address. Tried connecting via the IP address, no go.
So what am I missing?
The network port worked when I got the console a month ago, now nothing.
Put a case in with A&H Tech Support, we’ll see what they say.
So I had to mix from the side of the stage, no iPad.
Very sad…
this is not enough information to identify the problem
how is the router configured?
what is the dhcp server in the network?
the desk could not be the dhcp server…
The issue is not the router.
When I got home, I hooked up my Qu-16 to the same router, no changes.
Showed up right away, and the link LED is on on the console. iPad connects to router, Qu-Pad app works fine.
I’m thinking the network port on the console is the culprit. There is nothing else to configure on the console.
does your ipad connect to the router with the QU-32?
It does, but when I launch the Qu-Pad app, it doesn’t see the Qu-32. You can enter the IP address directly from there, which I did, but then it times out because it doesn’t find the Qu-32 at that IP address.
Because the Qu-32 is not making a connection with the router.
can you ping the qu32?
what adresses are involved?
Not sure how to ping it
I’d have to go and fire it up again to see that. 198. something…
I’ll see what A&H TS says tomorrow I hope.
- something could be wrong…
if your QU-32 gets no new ip adress and the default adress is in a different subnet than the router you will get no connection
so the network adresses are important!
I think a hard reset is in order. Have you tried that?
yes, tried that at the gig last night, didn’t help.
If you look inside the network connection (socket) on the back of your QU32, are all of the pins lined up correctly?
I know of someone where they put the USB on a slight angle accidently into the network port and bent the pins in the socket.
I had a qu-16 with a bad internal cable was working one day then not the next, I thought my router was bad. Nope my qu-24 worked just fine. AH sent me a new internal cable. goes from the inside rear jack to mainboard inside. Can be done by a local shop about 30 minutes labor.
Hmm, that sounds like it could be the issue. It worked, then the console got moved, and now it doesn’t work.
Thanks for the reply, I’ll see what A&H has to offer.
So finally after 2-1/2 days I did speak with a guy at American Music & Sound, the US Distributor for A&H.
Had me run through a bunch of tests, and at the end, he said my console is going to have to go back to A&H.
I’m a bit upset, have only had the thing for a little over a month.
But what really made me upset is I am expected to pay for shipping to A&H, they pay for it coming back.
I’d understand this if the console was a year old, but not a month old.
He said he would speak to the powers that be, guess we’ll see if he is successful.
I have to say, this episode with it taking days to get someone on the phone has really soured me on A&H.
For a $3000+ piece of gear, I expect better.
I think I would argue that one with the dealer. That is close enough to infantile failure for me. Almost DOA.
Rob, not to ask the obvious but I am going to do it anyway. What firmware is your QU-32 running and what version of the QU-PAD app are you running?
If your iPad is set to auto update, the its also possible that it updated to the latest firmware which doesnt recognize the Qu-32
IF that is Not the case and it simply wont connect.
Just Pm me the Serial Number and the dealer you purchased it from and we will get it taken care of ASAP and get a new console swapped out.
Sorry you had troubles with our support department and I will address this, if you could also please let me know the gentleman you spoke to about your console. Either way we will figure it out and get you dialed.

Very impressed that you reached out to me, Mike.
I replied in a PM.
And also a shout-out to GCumbee for helping get the ball rolling.
Just to close the thread this, A&H (actually American Music & Sound) replaced my Qu-32, which now has a working network port.
And they sent me a call-tag for my 1-month old one.
Great customer service.
