Open Template File

So, I’m feeling a bit stupid here so go easy on me.

I downloaded Custom Control and am playing around in it to get ready for my first time programming a system.

I downloaded the AHM Template Config 2025 file from here (https://www.allen-heath.com/content/uploads/2024/12/AHM-Template-Configs-2025.zip) and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to open them.

I’d like to dig around in them just to see how things are done.

Hello! Don’t worry, there’s no such thing as a stupid question.

To load any of these config, first open System Manager (1.5 or greater) and then either…
Connect to an AHM that you have, or
Connect to an Offline/emulated AHM using the buttons at the bottom of the System → Connect screen. In general, load the config in the AHM it was made on - the name is in the filename. All but one of them are AHM16 configs. All configs can be loaded on all versions but will just cut off the bits that don’t fit (for instance loading an AHM64 config on an AHM32) or leave unset the bits that aren’t present. (for instance loading an AHM16 config on an AHM64)

Once you’re in, head to Configure → Unit → Restore Config and locate your downloaded template files. Then, it will load the config into the unit you’re using.

If there are controllers present (Configure → Controllers) that you don’t physically have, you can use the Open Simulation button to get an on-screen virtual version, which is also a great tip for testing when you’re doing setup and commissioning if you’re working with lots of hardware.

The readme file gives a brief overview of what the template file is showing.

So, it turns out trying to open ia file with the wrong software rarely end with desired results. Who knew!

I was able to get it open and get my first AHU programmed and installed without issue.
