PAFL Active Indicator

Howdy Avantis fans. Not sure if anyone else would benefit from a PAFL indicator, but this week I realized that a PAFL had been set on a different layer without any obvious notification that it was on.

I’m wondering if the layer button LEDs are multi color? If so, a nice feature would be to set the layer button color to amber if a channel on that layer has a PAFL set, AND that layer is NOT active. Otherwise, maybe a slow flash using the same logic.

A use case I foresee is the morning operator setting a PAFL, forgetting to turn it off, and then turning the console over to the next operator and walking away. The new operator had no idea that a PAFL is set on another layer and wonders why the levels are not as expected. Should the new operator verify that state of the desk on arrival? Should the out going operator have cleaned up or notified the relief operator? Sure! But we’re only human :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hi Michael,

you could program a soft key to clear the PAFL, especially useful when using PAFL in additive mode. The soft key should illuminate when any PAFL is on, simple press to clear and the light goes off until you use PAFL again.

That’s an excellent idea. I’m going to give that try right now since I’m sitting at the console. Thanks for the suggestion.

Worked perfectly, thank you

That function was one of the first thing I did with the soft keys after buying Avantis 3 years ago. As you said, it works brilliantly.

Maybe less usefull in some applications but also possible:

You can swipe in the bottom left section of the screen with the buttons for listen/options/name/help. Than you get the main/pafl meters ons screen. When pafl is active it gets a yellow outline and to clear you can press in the meter area.

Thanks Quint. I knew about those options, however I did not know that there was an indicator around the meters when a PAFL is active. I’ll check that out.
