Why is it that when you stereo 2 inputs and apply phantom power it only applies it to the left channel? This is frustrating when trying to power an active stereo di box having to un-stereo the channels apply phantom and then re-stereo them.
If you stereo a channel it’s obviously because you want them to work as a pair (keyboard for example) and not individually.
I can’t seem to find a setting to change this, am I missing something?
Applying phantom to a stereo pair should be happening for both channels.
One thing I can think of why this happens in your case, is that one of the channels (probably R in this case) already had phantom power on - therefore when you enable phantom for both it might disable on R.
You can confirm this by going to your I/O page and tap on either one of the inputs included in the stereo pair, to see the corresponding preamp settings and so you don’t have to unpair the stereo channel.
It was a blank show file so the right had channel did not already have PP applied.
If you go to the I/O (Routing) page, you can press an input number at the top of the routing tab. This will bring up the preamp settings for that input which will include gain, phantom power, polarity, etc. This method allows you to access any input’s preamp without having to use the channel processing page. There are times when you might not have an input assigned to a channel (using tie lines, etc) and this method allows you to access those settings even when there is no “channel processing” elsewhere on the board.
Using this method is also very helpful when using “stereo” channels because you can access each input’s preamp settings independently. The stereo channel processing affects both input’s preamps in relative terms. Using this method, you can set the preamp settings of each input anyway you need to.
