After setting up the SoftKeys for SQ-Drive Record/Playback, I thought it might be nice to have a little feedback from the SoftKey itself.
Here’s my idea:
SoftKey for Play/Pause:
Play - light is on solid.
Pause - light blinks.
Softkeyfor Record:
Arm/Record - light is on solid.
This way if you press the Arm SoftKey, it will light solid and the Play/Pause SoftKey will blink. I know it shows in the screen, but adding it to the button would be nice!

What would be really nice is to have this on one button:
Stop is unlit.
First press arms record, light blinks red.
second press starts record, light is solid red.
Third press stops, light returns to unlit.
for playback softkeys, use green instead of red.
I don’t think putting them all on one is a good idea. If you ARM and then change your mind, your have to RECORD before you can stop. The ARM and RECORD on the same button might be ok.
I’ve a little 2 track recorder that has the 3 functions on one button, which I find annoying for that reason. I guess on the SQ though, the 3 individual buttons are available via the screen if you do want them. I would for one always want to press Arm & check levels are reasonable, if at all possible before starting to record.
I have been using a qu16 for a long time and have used the recorder a lot. the soft buttons light up and flash.
I was amazed when I used the sq recorder for the first time and the buttons remained dark.
Though there is feedback on the screen. But I agree!

Along these same lines the SQ Mix APP does not have anything close to the Q Drive level of control that the QU Mix APP does. the SQ Mix APP is about what the QU Mix APP was when it first came out.
