Hi.
I think I’m getting something quite obviously wrong when I’m trying to play back anything through my CQ-20B.
From SD card
I’ve followed A & H video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGNN7CxDbPU to playback from an SD card. I can find the tracks that I recorded a formatted on the SDHC 32GB class 10 and UHS 1 card, and I select the inputs to match the recorded tracks SD but there’s isn’t any sound output.
From DAW
I’m having the same problem playing back from my DAW too.
What am I missing?
Many thanks for any help and advice.
Somehow I’ve got SD playback to work
Next, I’ll try to get Cubase to play back…
And that’s working too
Hi, I am facing the same config issue. Can you post your config with CQ and cubase for play back
Hi. I’ve just realised that they way I go it to work isn’t the best or correct way if you just want to play back a stereo recording from your DAW. I had mapped each DAW channel to an its corresponding input on the CQ-20B but there’s a way to get the DAW output through main LR from the Digital Audio (Symbols) / USB/SD tab. But I’m not getting any sound that way yet… again. If I find out how then I’ll post it here or maybe somebody else will beat me to it.
Well, somehow I got Cubase to record from and playback to my CQ-2OB.
To play back, I had to set the USB to stereo in CQ MixPad, and set the USB on in fader /ST.IN/FX and in Cubase I has to set the stereo channel to 11, which is 21/22 on CQ MixPad for the CQ-20B. I think that’s what I did to get playback from Cubase to work anyway!
I’ve gone backwards today
I can’t get Cubase to play with my CQ-20B again. I’ve re-watched the videos to connect USB to PC and record/playback. I think it’s recording but I can’t play back through the CQ-20B.
Here are some notes I made for myself, setting up to use CQ12 with StudioOne. Cubase should be very similar.
Laptop setup
• Make sure there is plenty of free space on hard drive.
• Install A&H driver. Open the driver dialog and verify
-
USB Audio Device: CQ12T Audio
-
Sample rate: 48,000 Hz (aactually set on the CQ12T)
-
-Buffer settings:
ASIO 1: CQ ASIO Driver
512 samples, safe mode checked
StudioOne setup
• StudioOne → Options → Audio Setup
Audio device: CQ
Block size: 512 samples
• Song → Song setup → Audio I/O Setup
Add 10 mono channels
“Input 1” = “Channel 1 In”
and so on through 10
• Song → Song setup → Audio I/O Setup
Output: The Mail outs default to Out 1 & 2. Set them to 11(L) and 12®
However, when you move the project to the desktop system with the Scarlett, you will need to set the output back to 1 & 2, because this is a song setting, not a software preference.
CQ12T setup
• Config → Inputs
Click on the ST IN plugs, and set to USB source.
This will receive the main mix coming from S1 onto the ST IN fader
It should display as chan 11/12
Label that source “S1 Mix” for clarity. Then the first fader in the 3rd fader group will
be the S1 mix returning
• All the XLR inputs should be set to analog input and they never need to change. The mixing will all be done in S1.
Thanks a lot for sharing your notes. I’ll try this to help me to set up Cubase with my CQ-20B and if I get it to work then I’ll post my set-up here. Thanks again.
