Please add option for QU-5 with SQ style matrix routing page

Would very much like to see an advanced user option for the current QU gui interface that unlocks the capabilities of a standard matrix routing page, the current submarine routing page is lacking for quick overview and adjusting of complex routing options the mixer is capable of.

Feel this is a missed opportunity in an otherwise stellar revision and professionally used mixer.

Fair question to raise. My view though is that they would have copied this from the SQ at the get go of designing the new QU series if they wanted to. As they are pitching this as the simpler, easier cousin to the SQ, where people can just walk up and get mixing I think they will be keen to keep the cleaner, less complex nature of the SQ I/O matrix world.

In general, when hardware is capable of certain functions, I don’t see it as a benefit to handicap a user interface with a less efficient gui experience. If the marketing direction of the QU line’s intended user is supposed to be ā€œnoviceā€ then I understand having a limited user interface so long as there is also an advanced user interface that unlocks the full potential. It’s more about respecting the working professionals with workflows and features that help and not to hinder.

Even on just the practical side, a matrix I/O layout is just faster and simpler to route. I don’t see the utility in making an otherwise simple task become a chore, my guess is most other QU users would agree and appreciate the option to not paint with fingers for every gig setup.

Fair comments. Let’s see if those people get behind and vote for it. I am personally more familiar with the SQ routing than the QU but haven’t come a cropper using the QU I/O layout yet, but then I also haven’t asked many serious questions of it either so far!

As a user of various other A&H mixers, I did miss the matrix patch window when I installed a QU5D at our local theatre. Having it as a recalable option would be great.

re: catering to n00bs,

if they can put training wheels on Avantis and dLive (such as touch and hold for +48V) then they can surely put and optional ā€˜pro mode’ on Qu.

I’m in favor of making things optional anyway.
Just like on Avantis, for instance, there’s an option to require a separate patch button be pressed simultaneouslly with a box on the actual patch grid (a good idea), there should be an option to unlock things like that on Qu (just because it’s got limited channel/bus count, doesn’t mean professionals won’t use them) and on the higher end models, there should be an option to turn on +48V quciker than the touch and hold system they have now.
Why should pros have to be slowed down in their workflow because people also buy those conseles for vollunteers in churches on the other side of the globe to play with?
They shouldn’t.
