I’m planning to place a fan to assist with cooling, as the unit’s temperature rises when exposed to direct sunlight outdoors.
Also, please let me know if there is an optimal placement for the fan—not just on the bottom.
I started this topic because I wanted to hear from actual users, rather than getting opinions from AI.

According to this diagram from A&H, the air flow is designed to go from the sides of the case and be vented out the front and rear of the case. Any fans you want to add need to work with this air flow design, not against it.
Obviously the processor is going to generate the most heat. The power supply is probably the second electronic part that is going to generate the most heat. I don’t know where these components are located in the SQ chassis, but in theory, putting a fan that would encourage proper air flow over these components would likely help lower the operating temps of the console.
Apologies for offering just a piece of well-intentioned advice instead of answering your question.
But it is far far more important to avoid the direct sunlight than to simply circulate the hot ambient air around your console.
Typically, your black device will heat up much more from the direct radiant heat than from a high ambient temperature.
So it is better to tackle the root cause first.
Or get an umbrella or tent to keep the sun off in the first place.

It is used outdoors, under a tent.
Depending on the time of day, sunlight streams in at an angle, which is why I described it as direct sunlight.
If the console still overheats despite the angle, then the angle isn’t the cause.
The problem remains the direct sunlight hitting the black casing.
Find a (temporarily) way to avoid this.
Perhaps a movable (fabric-) covered frame might help during those times.

Just use mic stands with some drape and clamps, use power cables as weight on the foots.
