I already posted this question in the ‘Help’ section.
It would be great if the feed to the headphone jacks would be pre-fader.
Now when you turn down the master-fader the headphone volume is also turned down.
It would be nice, especially for home recording, to be able to turn down the pa/monitor speakers for recording and still be able to listen to the tracks through your headphones.
You can of course use a separate output, but in my case I am already using all outputs.
I do not onderstand the logic in having the headphones post-fader. They have there own (touchscreen) volume dails so why not feed them pre-fader?

To my point of view, the Main L+R output in listen mode should be sent pre-fader to the headphones. A pre/post fader option would be great, but as a minimum, I think that pre-fader listen is necessary.
This request gets to the heart of SR management: there are more than fader issues involved. A pre fader option is obviously necessary to maintain a reference point to audit the possibilities of gain staging misalignment, as well as the deployed ancillary effects (EQ, compression and FX). The over riding question is whether or not A&H would consider these activities too advanced for an entry level desk?

There is definitely no point it should be post fader, it has their own volume control and if the house mix is in calm low volume, there is quite no signal coming in to the headphones Jack
Please fix this, I play to the main mix, I cant control my headphone volume because its tied to the foh. I cant think of a single application where I would want the headphone lowered when I lower the mains.
Yes agreeing
Its very important
And there several reqeusts for this on seperate forums here in suggestions.
Please everyone do not forget to vote for this as this will bring awareness to the company
For me it makes no sense to have the headphone post fader. I use my CQ most of the time in my homestudio and listen with my headpone mostly on Main LR, sometomes Listen to check channels. Specifically when recording i’d don’t won’t to change the main LR fader, but sometimes need to adjust headphone volume for my ears.
An option to have headphone pre-fader or post-fader would be very helpfull. If it makes it easier to implement, i don’t mind if it is only an option on Listen.
Until this feature is implemented, here’s an idea:
Simply create a second mix identical to the Main LR and use it for recording.
This would even have the additional advantage that you could then adjust the listen level of your Main LR using its fader, relative to the listen of individual channels.
Thanks for the tip. This would work, although i mostly use my outputs allready for external FX/loopers etc. But i may try this and see how it works out.
In live sound, the Aux and Main Outs traditionnally have had post-fader headphone monitoring. On an analog board, the PFL (Pre Fader Listen) on inputs channels was called AFL (After Fader Listen) on the Aux Out channels. That’s the standard.
However, in this digital, software driven world, there’s no reason that people cannot have the choice!
