Qu-32 Right Output not working

Hello,

I have a qu-32 and the right output is not working. The speaker and cable works when tested independently. We did a reset, updated firmware, and still no fix. The meter on the top right shows that signal is going to both left and right. Can someone walk me through, step by step, what to look for as far as if something is routed wrong? Or how can I test if the output is actually bad? I don’t know anything about Sound, but I’m just wondering if a voltage meter would give me an answer?

I’ll move this to a more suited category so you have a better chance of proper responses to help.

Instead of using the outputs marked Main L & R can you try using two of the others, such as outputs 9 & 10 on the rear of the console to rule out a faulty output socket?

You would then need to go into your IO routing and change the patch for the Main LR feed to Surface Outputs 9/10.

Unfortunately I do not have the Qu-Pad app to get screenshots to help illustrate

I don’t quite know how to do that. When I go to IO patch and then surface, I chose mix 9&10 for the alt out and aes out and both seem to work if that’s what I’m supposed to do.

I’m not sure if I did that right though because music was playing through them with or without me changing that AES AND ALT OUT

Just to be safe: If you swap the two plugs connected to Main LR, the error will also swap - so first the right speaker is silent, and then after the swap, the left one, right?

As far as I know, Main LR is permanently connected to the Main LR XLR sockets and cannot be patched to a different pair of XLR sockets.
And if you’ve already performed a reset and a mono source is only present on the left and not the right XLR output, it looks more like a hardware problem.
But your Main LR should also be present at the two 2TRK out jack sockets.
Please check whether these two are working or whether the right side is also dead.

The only output on a QU32 surface you can patch is the ALT OUT and you found that menu.

Set the ALT OUT for main L R and see if both channels are working there, you will need some 1/4 inch to XLR male cable adapters.

Yes to double checking by swapping the cables plugged into the main output and see if the issues moves.
