QU-5/6/7 FX Verb Pre-Delay stopping audio

Can someone confirm for me if this is the same on other A&H desks (I can’t remember having this problem on the SQ’s but don’t have one in front of me to verify) but when you are using the EMT Verbs for example and affecting a signal by altering the Pre-Delay amount, every change in amount actually stops the audio momentarily. Delay Time for example allows the signal to continue flowing. I can’t imagine this would be a great experience for FoH mixing in a live scenario if it needs changing throughout the set.

Thanks in advance

yeah, it’s pretty normal for reverbs in general to stop audio when you’re changing the length, or pre delay. Normally it’s not a big deal, as you’d make these changes between songs, when verbs are typically muted…

I believe it is the same in all delay setting changes, If I remember it was a conscious desision to momentarily mute until the time changes have taken effect. Happens on channel and output delay also.

Regarding SQ, I can describe the behavior as more or less audible artifacts occurring with every parameter change of the Predelay.
However, the other parameter Length mentioned (Decay Time for SQ) works without any audible interference.
And also the mentioned Delay changes in the channels don’t result in muting of the SQ either.
Even if you turn it In or off at the maximum value, there’s only a time jump, not an interruption.
Only if you turn the Delay knob very quickly and make practically many parameter changes per second do you hear a corresponding type of modulation.

It would surprise me a bit, but perhaps there are some differences in the quality of the signal processing between the QU 2.0 and the SQ.

I’m going to have to try the echo and other FX with my Qu-5. The analog time stretch or whatever, sounds like tape delay changing. I’ll get that in any of my Studio One delays, I’ll get distracted with it, but not by it though. It’s like an effect of its own.
