Qu-5/6/7: unmute channel within mute group

I found several topic for this issue for most A&H boards, but nowhere an answer if this will/can be possible.

I use mute groups for our bands, but there is often the case I want to unmute one channel (e.g. a microphone or the piano) even the rest of the band should be stay muted. Then I have to first unmute the whole group (and maybe here unwanted sounds) und mute again manually the unwanted channels.

We had previously a Soundcraft board and there it was possible to unmute a channel with mute button even the mute group is muted.

We wish this behavior also for our new A&H Qu-6!

Are there any plans or options about this?

The ability to override a mute group on individual channels/busses was something the DLive got access to about 8 months ago in firmware 2.1. This feature was just released for the Avantis in firmware 2.0. The next logical step is for A&H to continue to add this feature to other consoles - first for the SQ and then for the QU.

Now it is possible that A&H will stop pushing this feature down to other consoles at some point because the lower you go in the A&H lineup, the less features the console has. But I hope that this feature would eventually be pushed down to all A&H lines because it is such a universally requested feature.

Thanks, that would be great if it will available for the Qu series!

We have a similar requirement at our Church with regard to using the keyboard playing softly under the service leader whilst leading up to a song. I don’t want the other instruments unmuted at the same time. We have an SQ desk though.

I have configured two (2) mute groups. One to mute all the instruments and the other to mute all of the instruments except the keyboard.

By careful use of these two Mute groups I can achieve the desired effect.

If your instrument is the same every time, you could use the same trick. If not…

Whether such a luxury feature will actually find its way into our entry-level consoles …
Until then …

This seems unnecessary to me, and perhaps you’d like to try the following:
On the routing page of an input, select the tab with the mute groups (which the QU2.0 will hopefully remember).
From this point on, you can then quickly and temporarily unmute an input channel by selecting it, clicking Routing, and temporarily un-assigning it to the appropriate mute group.
