I’m looking to replace my old QU-16 as i need a few more channels and appreciate the additional functionality / upgrades on the QU-5 (nice timing A&H) so this could well save me a good few ££££ vs the SQ boxes
After some clarification - The QU-5 states 6 mono & 6 Stereo outputs but with the AR2412 connected, can i have 10 mono mixes and L&R
Kinda limited by the amount of Aux buses on the console. So the console has 12 local XLR outputs and the AR2412 will have 12 so thats a total of 24 XLR Outputs. However you can only have a max of 9 Stereo Auxes which will give you a need of 18 XLR outputs + Main LR, so 20 in total….. or max 12 Mono Auxes + Main LR giving you a need of 14 in total. So yes both extremes are doable with the local console and AR2412.
Perhaps I misunderstood your request and wanted to answer as follows:
In the User Guide, I read that all 12 mixes can be used in mono (see image).
So if you need 10 mono auxes, you’d still have 2 free mixes, e.g., for stereo groups.
And your 10+2 outputs on the AR2412 should fit exactly.
Thanks, I was just a bit confused with the spec stating 6 mono but the mixer has 12 dedicated mix buttons. I know the outputs are mirrored on the mixer/stagebox and on the current QU16, there’s no option to link any outputs. It’s the higher number of mono aux mixes I’m after as well as a few extra inputs.
Nothing is fixed or mirrored.
You can specify which of your outputs should be available where and patch them accordingly.
If you wanted to have the outputs of 8 mono aux mixes on your stage box in addition to LR, 2 output jacks would remain empty – or also 2 auxes could be there stereo.
