Qu-5D Digital split for inputs

I’m looking to upgrade my Qu16 to a QU-5D and was wondering if you can split an input to 2 channels. I do quite a few folk shows and have come across quite a few scenarios where I could have really done with a split to get the best possible monitor sound for singer/acoustic guitarists. Just using the graphic on the aux out means I have to compromise on occasions.

Perhaps I missed it in the manual Thanks.

Yes, that’s possible.
On your QU-5D, you can patch input jacks to multiple input channels, giving you several different processing options for a single input (see also page 43 of the User Guide).

If I understand you right, yes this can be done. See if my setup seems close to what you mean.

Physically done on a stage box but we have 10 input jacks used for 10 mics. This is stage box input 1-10 of an AB168. Those inputs 1-10 are “tapped” internally with routing to feed 3 main mix areas, first is main LR FOH stereo, and next are mono, second feeds a secondary mix into the lobby. 3rd mix is piano monitor mix. That’s all basically tap 1 of the physical jacks 1-10.

Now “tap” 2 happens. Same physical 1-10 are assigned internal inputs 17-26. This tap feeds 3 more mixes. These are hearing assist mix mono, nursery room mix mono, Livestream stereo mix.

All mixes assigned separate physical out jacks.

Channel mutes follow 2 separate “master” mixes, FOH mix group, then Livestream mix group for its own.

When using a stage box with any of the original QU’s like your QU16 you can double patch the stage box inputs to channels on the mixer surface. Actually you can patch a single stage box input to every channel on the mixer if you want to.

You need to go to the IO set up menu to do the patching and then in the channel pre amp menu is where you assign the channel to be a local input or a stage box input.

Thanks everyone. QU-5d is in the pipeline in a couple of months as I’ve just booked a few shows that exceeds the qu-16 channel count.

You’re going to like it a lot. You probably will transition easily. Have fun with the shiny new stuff.
