Hi
For good reason, in our Church, I want to route our QU24 to an AR84 on our main amp rack and then extend to an AB168 which is used for bands. Reason for this arrangement is that for standard services, we don’t want to power up the band’s rack with all its other gear.
Would it work if I rand QU24 → stand alone switch with outputs the AR84 and the AB168?
Many thanks
Is there a reason you need a switch to connect the AB168 to the AR84? Wouldn’t it be better to just use the Expander port on the AR84 to connect the AB168 when you need it?
Just leave them connected all the time, the AB168 expansion port connected to the AR84.
Remember when you save a scene the IO stage box patching is part of the scene, so with scene changes you could be switching between boxes inputs and outputs as needed.
To do that you do not want any of IO patching set to safe in the scene set up menu.
Hi - thanks for the feedback. The issue for us is that we connect the QU to the main Amp rack for normal (i.e. No band) services. We don’t turn the AB168 or any of the other stuff on. The AR84 only has a single Ethercon input - so it’s not possible to daisy chain to the 168. We could route the feed from the QU to the 168 and then daisy chain over to the AR 84 in the Amp rack but that would mean that we have to power rack up. Trying to make things as simpler for not technical users.

Are you using the AR84 outputs to drive the main amps for your sound system?
Is the AB168 just used for inputs from the band when you have the band?
How close to one another are the 84 and the 168 boxes?
Do you have a power sequencing system on your sound system?
