I’m guessing I just plug a wireless router into the qu16 and it will work.
Am I correct in thinking I don’t need an actual internet connection??

Correct
The iPad has to be on the same subnet, so use the LAN port of a router - not the WAN port
it is also a very good idea to create a password so nobody can log into your router thinking they are getting free internet.
I highly recommend an Apple Airport Express or Extreme router, and if that is your choice, go to the app store and get the free App called Airport, it is super easy to set up the router and enter a password to lock people out.
Mega… I have any AirPort Extreme I no longer use… So that would be perfect! Thanks dude.

Hi Mark, welcome to the Digital Community!
There’s a video on Qu-Pad & Router setup in our YouTube tutorial series.

Hi Harry,
My Qu-Pac DHCP is currently ENABLED but is unable to pick-up the router’s set-up.
I also have manually updated the IP Address, Subnet Mask & Gateway in the Mixer (Network) but still unable to connect with my Ipad.
need your advice how I can further trouble shoot.
Can you confirm that a computer gets a DHCP address from the router?
That you plugged into a LAN port
That you have tested the cable (or at least have a link light)
Yes, I am using a 5th generation Airport Extreme & can see the IP address via Airport Utility.
I restored it not to factory default & now having IP Address & Subnet Mask Only.
Cable is tested, same cable I used now to re-set-up the airport extreme.
Is there a need for me to manually update the IP, Subnet & Gateway in the mixer?
Though after, restoring to default, I am only seeing values for IP Address & Subnet Mask. There is no more Router Adress.
pls see attached pix.
also, the Qu-Pad is prompting to enter an IP Address. I tried entering the router’s Ip Address but still not working.
Is it not supposed to detect automatically?
I am really having difficulty setting up the router, i have already tried 3 different routers (Airport Extreme, Express, Dlink 850L) with no success still.
QuPad can be told to use an IP address, but that’s usually not required (and should be the IP of the desk, not the router.
Let the router boot up, then connect the cable to the QU, then boot that up.
It should DHCP - assuming the router isn’t doing any fancy Mac filtering…
Hi Bob,
what do you mean by IP of the desk?
you mean I will reboot fir the the router, then after rebooting while it is still on, i will connect to QU-PAC then turn-on the Qu-Pac?
Hi Bob,
I have tried so many ways but still not able to make it work.
Kindly below details if there is anything you can see.
Firmware: 1.82
QuPad: 1.81
Router: Airport Extreme 802.11n (5th Generation) ==> Is this too old version?
DCHP and NAT
DCHP Range @ 10.0
The iPad doesn’t need the router IP.
I presume it connects to the Wireless OK?
The QuPac DHCP is on - so the settings page should show an IP address (I can’t recall exactly where that page is - but it’s the one with firmware version etc… The IP address is one of the bottom lines of the page.
Can you see the DHCP table in the router?
Hi Bob,
Yes Know where to see the QuPac DHCP setting. It has a default Ip, subnet & gateway. Please let me know how important are these default values.
Yes I can also see the DHCP table in the router if you mean viewing the router in computer or via settings of the ipad upon connecting to it.
I really do not understand it as I am not familiar with networking.
But here’s how I do it.
Hoping that you get help figure out from these details.
I also tried to update the ip, subnet & gateway in the mixer but no success also.
Thanks.
At 7 you should enter the IP of the QU
If you look at the DHCP table on the router it should list devices which have connected with their MAC (physical address, doesn’t change) and their IP (which can change)
There is a second page - with firmware info at the top - which lists the current IP (as opposed to the default which isn’t used when DHCP is enabled)
I also checked it but there is no value in it even after setting up the router.
Pls see attach. I am beginning to think there is a defect in my newly bought QuPac.
Or should I reset & re-install the firmware.
That’s the screen I meant.
Ok, if that’s not getting an IP but a laptop on the same cable, in the same port, does then you have an issue. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a dodgy internal network cable.
Really sure the cable is in the QuPac’s LAN port not the dSnake port?
Thanks Andreas, yes I’m hundred percent sure.
Maybe i would need to reinstall the firmware.
I have tried so many options already but still no success.
Thanks Bob for all the kind help you have given me.
I’m going to jump into this. I have no problem setting the connection up and controlling the mixer through the qu-pad app. My problem is that the connection only lasts for a few minutes, 10 minutes MAX before it suddenly drops out. The activity light on the ethernet port is not lit anymore. The only way for me to reconnect is to unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back in. When i do that once (sometimes twice) the activity light starts blinking again and i am able to briefly connect through the qu-pad app once again before the process repeats itself. This is an early qu-16 i am using, at the latest firmware, this problem has persisted throughout all of the firmware and qu-pad updates for me. I am using a airport express also, per the suggestion of allen and heath. Is this a known issue that was resolved in the chrome edition qu’s?
I’ve been hoping firmware updates would fix this for a long time, and i am starting to get frustrated not being able to maintain a reliable connection through qu-pad. Thus not being able to utilize one of the features that is most important to me, being able to control the mixer from anywhere in the room.
