Qu System- Is a Power Sequencer Neccesary?

Hi Everyone, I am looking at installing a Qu-5 in a gymnasium, will I need a power sequencer to turn the amps off at the right time or will the Qu turn on fast enough? Sorry if it’s a stupid question, but I want to save the $400 if I can.

Thanks!

Is ther e a reason why you can’t just turn the console on and then turn on the amps (for power on procedure) or the reverse for power down?

If there is something in place that is preventing this for whatever reason, you could just pull the XLRs from the back of the console until powered on/off to prevent bangs/pops and then plug them back in when completed.

Trying to make powering on/off as simple as possible for anyone using the gym. Thanks!

A power sequencer would most likely be recommended for your situation.
Only then will you fulfill the “unwritten rule” that the power amplifiers should be turned on last and turned off first.
Whether it’s absolutely necessary in your case depends on two things:
Do all your power amplifiers have a sufficiently long power-on delay so that any power-on noise from the console can’t even take effect?
And did your QU-2.0 have components that protects the outputs from power-off noise?
I honestly don’t know about the latter, but I assume they were omitted from this series as well.
Perhaps users of this series could confirm this.

But even with a power sequencer, you would ignore the “Powering Off Sequence” described in the User Guide, which states, among other things:

  1. Touch the Shut Down button in the Home screen (Press the PROCESSING or ROUTING
screen key multiple times to deselect any channel and display the Home screen).
  2. When prompted, turn off the power using the power switch

So far, I don’t know if this also only serves to savely terminate any write operations to USB or SD also in this series.

I don’t know exactly what the purpose of the shutdown sequence is, but I use it on my Qu-5. Every time I restart, the Qu-5 opens with the last state of operation. I still use a created scene I load after the fact.
