Qu-You passwords

Does each user need a unique password? If so, how is it setup under administrator?

New user grateful for any assistance.

Mike

Each user would have their own password.
It doesn’t need to be unique. If all users trust each other implicitly, you can use the same password on all accounts. Though usually it is a good idea that the Administrator of the console knows these passwords just in case of unforseen events.

When you are creating a new user account, there should be a prompt to enter a password for each, before you finalise the account creation.

Unfortunately there is a limited number of user slots that you can create/assign in the console. If you have more slots than people, then it’s obviously possible to create users for each person. However I am not sure that is the best practice even if it’s possible.

Luckily, multiple people can use the same user ID/password. They can even log in at the same time without any issues. Therefore I would tend to create “user groups” vs individual users. By default there is an admin user, but that login has complete control over the system. It is common to create a different user (group) with fewer permissions allowed. I would give this “regular/non admin” user’s id/password to the majority of your users and only give out the admin information to a select/trusted few that can be relied on to not mess things up.

If you have enough logins available to create one for every musician, that might help ensure they are on the right mix buss if they are mixing their own monitors. However it is also common to create one “musician” login and give it out to all the musicians. They will just need to select the correct buss to mix when they login.

PS - I believe the passwords are optional (they are on other console models, but I haven’t checked on the QU specifically). So while it is important to have a password assigned to the Admin user to prevent unauthorized use, you might decide to skip passwords on the other users just to make it easier for everyone to get access.

Thank you very much.
