Qu24, Ableton and monitoring problems

Hello to all. Hope it is okay to ask this question, I have seen other users asking about the usb interface features, but still haven’t been able to figure this following problem out myself after reading numerous post and tutorials.
I’m kinda new to the whole digital mixer world, so forgive my noob-ness.
Basically, Im trying to set my Qu24 and Ableton up in such a way that I can only hear the audio coming through when I have “auto” and the “arm/record” turned on in Ableton. This makes it possible for me to use effects and plugins and so on, on the given audio input from my Qu.
But im only hearing direct monitoring from qu, and when i put a software effect on the audio channel in Ableton, im cant hear the effect but only the direct signal from my qu line channel.
I have my monitors plugged into main L\R on the qu with xlr cables… And i have enabled all channels to go through usb streaming. Im also getting a signal into Ableton, but as I said above, only hearing the signal direct from the qu. And im hearing this at all times, even when Ableton is turned off.

I hope someone can help, and many thanks in advance

I think what you need to do is unassign your Qu24 inputchannels from main LR and send your Ableton output via USB to for instance one of the stereo inputs of the Qu. Then assign the stereo channel to main LR.

Good luck !

Hey man thanks very much for the reply  i think i understand what you are explaining, now I’m just in doubt on which exact menu I sshould use to route the usb signal into one of the stereo channels ?

Im not familiar with Ableton but in my DAW (Studio One) the software sees your mixer as a possible output. So probably the in/output routing menu in Ableton ? See where Ableton allows you to send your main DAW output…

You are correct, I can choose outputs in Ableton. I am in doubt though as to which output I should route to, and how I “activate” that output in the mixer.

If, for instance, Ableton suggest stereo III as the return, go to the routing page in the mixer and tell stereo III it should use USB. I’m always on an IPad and that also give the possibility to change where the channel is pulling from in the left top of the channelstripscreen (local, D-snake, usb).
