Hey there, Im new here! Not sure how this works but ill give it a try lol. Not a professional btw, just an at home user.
Looking into getting a QU24 soon, and got the opportunity to buy a Yamaha SB168-ES stagebox at a low price. Will it work with the QU24 via ethernet connection? Tried finding the answer online but to no succes.
This would be for a semi professional at home recording studio that I want to build up over tte coming years. So for recording purposes, how drastically could it change my sound from using a non powered stagebox like a regular old snake, and using the pre amps the QU24 has?
You can connect the SQ via Dante to RIO stagebox. But you can’t control of the gain. You have to buy a Yamaha console or use the R-Remote for Mac/PC to control Gain.
QU mixers do not have Dante cards - there is no way to connect the QU and
Yamaha SB168-ES stagebox.
The Yamaha Ethersound stage boxes like the SB168-ES are not Dante enabled. The use an older communication protocol created by Digigram. Yamaha stopped using that protocol when they moved to using Dante for their systems. This means the Yamaha consoles that support Ethersound are very old (pre CL/QL series).
That stage box is definitely NOT going to work with any A&H console.
