I would love a function on the preamp page that allows you to quickly copy the preamp settings (gain, pad, trim, +48) from the current socket to a new one that is patched.
This could either be:
A button or key combination called “recall prev settings” where the console stores the current preamp settings into each channel when you change a socket assignment and then after you have re-patched the input you can press this button to recall the previous settings and apply them to the new socket.
Maybe the key combination could be to hold the “copy” button while pressing the “apply” button on socket change?
OR:
A togglable setting to enable a mode that automatically copies the settings as soon as an input is re-patched.
There are many situations where you want to quickly re-patch an input (or lots of inputs) but keep the preamp settings. I often set up a show file in advance file using channel libraries but the physical input patch isn’t decided yet, When I then patch I lose the preamp settings and trying to remember gain, pad, trim and +48 while also figuring out socket numbers is difficult.
Yes, libraries can sort of do this but its slow and requires changing the recall options every time. It takes many button presses to change pages, name and store the library, change pages, do the patch, change pages, check the recall options, recall the library and change pages. It also fills up the library list with useless entries.
