I would like to see Real-time vocal pitch correction as paid SW add-on. I use Waves Tune Real-Time with Waves SQ card or HW voice processors. For small events I would like to see the feature available on the mixer for ad-hoc use.
I doubt this will be possible as a firmware/software update without sacrificing a lot of other functionality. On dLive they used a paid hardware update for this (and more). If the same strategy will be possible for the lower tier products Avantis and SQ, only A&H can tell…
I would agree that the odds of this type of plugin coming to the SQ series is pretty low. I think the processing power to run this plugin “well” requires quite a bit of processing power. The vocal tuning plugin is only available on the DLive when you have the additional RackUltra FX processing card installed. If you just have the “stock” processing chip, even the DLive can’t run the vocal tuning (or other RackUltra FX) plugins.
The Avantis has an internal hardware expansion card slot just like the DLive, so it is possible that a similar RackUltra FX engine hardware upgrade will eventually be released for the Avantis. If/when it is, we will probably see a vocal tuning plugin made available for the Avantis. But as far as I know, there is no such expansion card slot on the SQ series so I suspect it can’t be implemented on the SQ series.
I saw this demonstrated at a show when I think it had just been released for the dLive.
One thing that was asked was just that - would this be available for the SQ also?
The answer was pretty much an “unlikely” unless it was possibly accompanied by a hardware add-on internal to the SQ to accommodate the additional processing.
