Can I set up a matrix as a record bus? If so how do I do that? I’m already using the 12 mix buses for in-ears. I don’t really understand what differentiates a mix from a matrix on this console.
Afaik you can, just go to I/O patch and send the matrix to USB

Channels send to Mixes. Mixes send to Matrices. A matrix allows multiple mixes to be summed and output through one set of L+R XLRs.
You can record a matrix - set Matrix L + R as two of the USB patches (under Setup > IO Patch > USB Audio).
(I use a Qu mixer but I presume the same applies to SQ)
