Recording Date of Audio Files

Hi there,
I’m a very happy and thankful user of the CQ 18T for half a year, but now a little problem occured: when I transmitt my recorded multitrack files from the sd-card to my pc, all of them always show 01/01/2017 - 00:01 as the recording date. And “always” really means always, for example also my recordings I made 3 months ago as the ones I made yesterday, and no matter which sd-card I use. I really studied the user guide up and down and scrolled all menues, settings and configurations on the CQ itself - I couldn’t find any possibility to set a recording date manually or a general system clock time.
Can anybody help? Or is it just a missing possibility of the CQ ?

There is no clock in their mixers, so no date. I’ve read that with an ipad connected, it will use that clock chip to time stamp.

The thread with the most votes for this feature suggestion is probably this one, and also you should add your vote there:

Like Dave said. Thus query/request has been posted quite a few times. The hardware/motherboard of tge CQ has no built in time clock (not to be confused with its circuitry timing chip) and as thus, tgere is no hardware chips nor backup clock battery, so it cant time stamp and files/recordings and never will as its a hardware circuitry exclusion, so cant be added as firmware.

My advice is as I do for every session recorded. Pop the SD into a computer, Create a folder named CQ multitracks or similar. Create subgroup folder if desired, then create a dated folder and drag the files from that dated session into it.

Makes for a much better track reference library. MT1 MT2 etc is obvious where they are in the session timeline and track files are named from track source names.

Pop the SD back in the CQ then reformat for empty and clean efficient storage device for better speed.

This isn’t a firmware fix, but a hardware one, and very unlikely to be implemented.

Why do you think that a solution via firmware update, like with the SQ, where a connection to MixPad provides the time, should not be possible with the CQ?

Thank you so much for all of your useful informations!
But I have a follow-up question to Dave:
Did I get you right: When I’m operating the CQ via CQ Mixpad the recording gets the timestamp from there (no matter if it’s on ipad, android or pc)?

Perhaps I mis-stated. Firmware won’t allow INTERNAL time stamps. If you saw my earliest post, I mentioned the Ipad method.

In SQ a firmware already allows this – and if enough people vote for it, maybe it will eventually be possible in CQ as well.

However, I also don’t know what an ipad method is for CQ.

I nearly always have an iPad attached, but recording times are not updated. Is it supposed to update?

No, that has no influence on the file date.

Hi all,

I’m loving my new CQ20B, but the default 2017 timestamps on recordings are a letdown. My old Behringer XR12 bypassed this exact same hardware limitation by simply syncing the time from the connected app/controller. It would be great to see A&H step up and implement the same software solution so we don’t have to manually rename every file after a gig.

Best, Tomas
