Hello - I am trying to record additonal tracks onto an existing multitrack recording. Is this possible? Can’t seem to find how to do this in the manual.
Thanks!

Don’t think thats possible on the mixer, every time you hit record on the mixer a new multichannel folder is created.
You could add a new wave file to the existing folder on the computer though provided you match all the necessary file parameters and channel names, so it would look to the Mixer file system as just another channel to play back. So whilst possible it needs a bit of thought. The mixer uses a FAT32 file system regards file naming and field sizes and the WAV files also have to be at correct sample and bit rate and probably length.
I thought I may have read a post a while ago from someone who had successfully achieved this.

I too am hoping one day that feature will be available. that would be very helpful, ie: going to someones home for a quick overdub Track of guitar or percussion or vocals !!!
I was also trying to see if i could create a backing track, load that file on USB drive for playback .. but you would have no way to easliy start and stop and Punching in sounds out of the question and have that playing while recording multi-track … still a work in progress !!
a buddy and i use a Tascam Model16 that will overdub, but it does not have any of the coolfeatures the CQ18T has !! really digging having all the EQ’s on Outputs !! and an Automixer Built in !! we used to rent Duggan Boxes in LA for that !! love it !!
cheers john
I believe the Zoom L-series mixers can do this. It doesn’t have nearly as many features as the CQ mixers for use as a live mixer but it is a better choice for a recording console if that’s all you need.
You can get a Zoom L-8 for under $300 used.
I would love it if A&H had a way to enable this on the CQ series but for now, you will need something else.
I used to have the L-12 LiveTrack and do miss the ability to overdub/add tracks etc to multi track recordings. Now considering the L-8 option just for recording purposes but is there an away to use the CQ for channel mixing and processing and just link up the livetrack for recording? Seems I would need additional hardware if even possible?
