Is it possible to assign the audio that comes from my PC to the channels of my choice instead of being forced to play back via ST1, ST2, or ST3?
Of course you can. If it’s USB audio, you’re free to route it anywhere. If it’s headphone out or whatever, plug in to any channel. The only thing you can’t do is route the ST1,2,3 hardware inputs anywhere but the ST1,2,3 software channels.
You can route ST1 etc to any processing channels, what you cannot do is release them from their original channels. Which means yo have to hide the original faders (ensuring they are not routed to any output) in order to avoid the problems associated with double patched inputs.
I have actually done this on the QU5D I installed in my local theatre as they require individual control of left and right inputs for SFX purposes.
Yes on new Qu. No on old, where you can route dsnake or USB to ST123, but only as pairs. And you can’t route the hardware St123 anywhere else. At least that’s what Mixing Station thinks. Sold my Qu32, so I can’t verify.
I was able to accomplish it through the “custom” layer. Just took me a while to realize it ![]()
