I would like to route the main bus to two out jacks. As of now, essentially you can’t.
I’m not sure what model you have. The CQ-20B has a pair of “alt outs” that can mirror other outputs. For other models, you can set up another pair of outputs with all inputs at unity and configure Input Send Levels to Post-Fader in Config > Outputs so they’ll track whatever you do with the Main LR mix. If you have effects returns going to mains you’d need to direct them to the new output as well, but once that’s done you should be good to go.
I have a cq-18T, no alt outs.
Sure, one could do what you suggest, but it’s a clumsy (though clever), long and error-prone procedure to achieve something that could be obtained much more simply:in yhe output page, select if the output gets its signal from the sends, or Main L or R. In fact, I think the method you suggest loses stereo separation?
Anyway, thank you for your suggestion.
Post-fader is also post-pan so the stereo image should be preserved. Allen & Heath has higher end and more capable products so it’s always going to be a matter of which compromises you make. I could have been tempted by a new Qu-SB instead of the CQ-20B if one was offered, and I guess the Qu-Pac is probably the equivalent for the 18T concept but it has also not been updated to match the new feature set for the Qu-5/6/7.
Oh, so you mean that when you link the outs, they only get the relative side of the signal…makes sense! Thank you.
