I’m trying to help a friend with their church setup. They still use colored foam windscreens on their mics and and have added strong magnet (color coated) tokens on top of their QU-7 to make it easy for them to note what mic is on what channel.
My question is simple: Is it safe to use those magnets on the mixer, or does this risk a problem for the internal electronics in the mixer?
I would say most unlikely, unless by strong you are referring to bits of loudspeaker magnet!
These are like the shape of a push pin, so fairly strong for their tiny size. We use some on our fridge and they hold a lot for their tiny size. I just want to play smart.
I don’t know what a push pin is, I presume it is a drawing pin in English, about 1cm diameter.
Push pin and drawing pain are basically the same thing, yes.
Couple of different designs available, but what you described sounds about right for what I imagine the magnets are like that the OP is referring to.
