Do the AB168 and AR2412 / AR84 use the same mic preamps? I cannot seem to find absolute clarification on this anywhere I look. I own a QU16 with AR2412. Considering getting a QU32 and 2 stage boxes, but I am trying to decide which way to go (a 2412 and 84 or 2 168’s).

You would need to see if they have the same op-amps.
Im in a similar situation and have 3 sets or AR however wanting to get a couple AB168’s

Yes, when you choose an input through the AB168 as the channel source a pad does appear on the channel screen.
It’s likely the same then - I’m sure Harry will be along to confirm soon enough
