I agree with the original post. User picks a scene → user wants to know what scene they picked. Simple as that.
As for the argument “as soon as you move a fader the last recalled scene is changed”. Yes? That is how many systems operate. For example Line6 HX Stomp, which I use. I turn the patch knob, picking a patch. The display shows the name of the patch. As soon as I do something, for example press a foot switch, the HX immediately indicates with an “E” icon in the display that the patch is now changed. But it still shows the patch name. Perfectly normal and fine.
