Scene to USB question

In the reference guide, 11.11 talking about scene to USB it says you can highlight both positions (scenes stored in memories and scenes stored on the USB drive) and then touch “to USB” to transfer the scene to the USB drive. Is this only possible to an empty slot on the USB? I can not select the stored scene and the scene already on the drive. What I am trying to accomplish is to not end up with multiple copies of the same or similar scene. I know I can delete scenes fairly easily but that is not the point. Am I just misreading that paragraph?

You can only transfer from the QU-16 to USB and vice versa to an empty slot, you cannot overwrite.
