Sending audio from broadcast to FOH using Slink

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to send video playback audio from Propresenter to FOH when triggered in broadcast.

The setup is we are using an SQ6 at FOH and an SQ5 at broadcast. We are receiving audio from FOH over SLink out of the card slot on SQ6 into the Slink port on SQ5. Isn’t there a way to send a local input from the SQ5 Broadcast mixer to the FOH mixer? I thought it was going into the IO tab and selecting which input on SQ6 I want the local SQ5 input to come in on. Am I missing a step somewhere because I’m not getting any audio coming to FOH?

Routing on SQ5______ Playback in on local input 1 sending out SLink

SQ6___________Input tab, SLink Card Tab, slelect where i want it to go, to input 33.

Did I do this right, or did I completely miss a step, or went the wrong direction? Can anyone help? It would be appreciated.

It is as simply as going to the routing page, but you need to do this at both ends.

For example, if you want to send local inputs 1-4 from the broadcast SQ5 to the FOH SQ6, you need to go into the SQ5 I/O Output page and assign the local inputs 1-4 to whatever SLink output you want to use. Then on the FOH SQ6, you also need to go into the I/O Input page and link whatever SLink input channels you choose in step 1 to the appropriate inputs on the SQ6.

Based on your description, it sounds like this is what you attempted to do. If you post your actual I/O pages here, we can probably spot the error pretty quickly.

Use tie lines on the Broadcast desk.

Under Tie Lines, select the local source and an S-Link destination.

On FOH, patch those S-Link channels to the desk channels. I use this myself to keep tabs on my broadcast engineer without having to leave my own position.

This worked, I did exactly this the first time, just missed going to the FOH SQ6 and routing it correctly. I chose the wrong SLink. I chose the SLink coming from stage box and not the SQ5. I knew i was missing or not doning it right.

Thank you so much, thats y i love this forum. You guys come through every time.

I thought of doing it this way but we are using the tie lines to record the broadcast mix for training for the volunteers, but this will also work.

I do wanna clean this up a bit as far as training days. I would love to just do a Virtual soundcheck at FOH and still send it to broadcast so i can train both FOH volunteer and broadcast volunteer on training days
