Show and Scene recall consistently does not recall the correct saved user libraries

Problems with CQ12T Firmware V1.22 r4248

On powering up the mixer – the Show and Scene recall consistently does not recall the correct user libraries assigned to the particular channel. Eg Vox1 will have a Vocal library assigned and saved, but on start up will revert to Drums. Not all channels are affected.

Consequently, each channel must be checked and re – assigned the appropriate user library. This is tedious and time wasting and negates much of the advantage of saving scenes and shows. But the worst aspect of it is I cannot delegate the start up and operation of the sound system because of the need to reset these paraments. Is there any fix for this? What could I be doing incorrectly?

First, it is important to understand that Show, Scene and Library files are not automatically updated. If you load a scene and then make a change, that change is not going to be recalled the next time you load that scene unless you specifically overwrite the scene.

Furthermore, a scene file is basically a total snapshot of the console processing for both inputs and outputs. (In reality it is more than that). I suspect your scenes are not saved the way you “think” they are. If you want a different set of “drum” settings for two different drum sets, then you need to save a scene with everything set the way you want and then change the drum settings and save a new scene. This means you will have two scenes - one for each drum set. That is easy enough, but as soon as you start to introduce even more source combinations, it can be very hard to create and manage the scenes needed because there needs to be a new scene for every possible source combination. If you want scenes that have two different drums sets and two different guitar sounds, suddenly you need to save 4 different scenes . If you add in two different singers, now you suddenly eight different scenes - one for every combination.

Obviously it can be very cumbersome to save a unique scene for every single possible combination of sources. This is why the console also has the Library recalls. Those are designed to be loaded on top of a scene to change a set of parameters for a specific source (drum set, guitar, vocalist, etc).

I should also note that the CQ should be reverting to the “last state” when powered on. Unlike some of the other A&H consoles, you cannot set the CQ to load a specific scene when it is powered on. It should be reverting to the same state that it was in when it was powered off.
