It would be great if a Soft Key could take me to any assigned page. Instead of having to select the L&R mix and then hitting the EQ icon, just assign the L&R EQ to a soft key. When I hit that key, there’s the EQ. It would also mean I don’t have to move off a channel I may have selected to make an adjustment to an assigned page. Yamaha does this with their User Select Keys, they call it Page Bookmark. It would save a few steps getting to second and third layer pages. Over the course of a night, that could be a lot of steps.
Great idea…
I would love to see an implementation of macros on the SQ range. I’m using dante inserts and would love to have a bypass selected inserts button through a macro just for safety in case the plugin host crashes.
Great idea! I usually use a matrix to feed my PA system. To access the matrix graphic EQ, I need to switch to another layer, select the matrix channel, and then press the GEQ button. Even the old Yamaha LS9 offers a more convenient solution for this. Please add something like a bookmark function for specific screens / functions (It would also be great to select a specific fx screen with one press of a button).
Mosound,
What size of SQ desk have you got (5, 6, or 7)?
We have an SQ7 at Church, and I have created a couple of custom layers; one of which has our vocalists, instrumentalists (excluding the drums), groups, AUXs and Matrix channels present.
I can directly access the matrix channels from this often-used layer.
Likewise, the first four (4) FX units can be accessed (if I remember correctly) from the four blue FX buttons on the right-hand side of the desk.
If you use an FX as an insert, you can get to it quickly by selecting the channel that the FX is inserted on, and then press the grey FX button just below the screen.
Some of these operations may depend upon the surface preferences that you have set.
I am going from memory here, but I can confirm operation of specific items if you wish. I can pop down to the Church and ‘play’…
EDIT: Everything above worked on the desk as I thought, with the exception of the blue FX buttons on the right. They select the FX send and bot the FX unit.
Putting your commonly used controls on one layer makes the workflow a bit easier. However, if all of your controls are commonly used, all bets are off!
