Spontaneous scene change

Hello,

Since v1.6.0 we encounter spontaneous and random scene changes which unfortunately disrupt live mix. We observe it on all our SQ mixers (two SQ5 and one SQ7). Now all mixers are updated to v1.6.1 but the issue persists. We have not found a particular trigger that causes it. Some days it works fine without disruption and some days we see scene changes multiple times a day.
Similar issue has been reported here affecting dLive mixers: Spontaneous scene recall?.

Perhaps someone has observed similar changes on their SQ mixers and how would you fix it?

This is not something we’re aware of.
Please contact us directly via support.allen-heath.com (if you haven’t done so already) with more details of the setup.

The first thing that comes to mind as you mention having multiple consoles is wondering whether they’re on the same network?
And then if there’s anything on that network (e.g. DAW) that could be sending the MIDI output from one mixer to another.
Or whether there is any other possible source for MIDI program change or MIDI Show Control messaging, both of which can trigger Scene recalls in the SQ.

Thanks,
Keith.

Hi Keith,

I just submitted tech support request.
As for your questions, all mixers are on dedicated management network where there are some network devices and servers.
Is MIDI control enabled by default, i.e. you can control SQ mixers out of box via ethernet? I am not aware of any such device on that network that could be sending MIDI messages. We observed the issue even late at night when there is no one in the building that could potentially send MIDI messages.
