did you use a Mac? if so, do the copy in a virtual machine on the Mac, or on a wind-blows pc.

windows here the stick worked for three years with dlive, q and sq files on it…very strange
i`ll give it a try with another stick (strange because i reformatted the stick on the sq)
tried different stick-same,
update: tried it again with win10,win11.and win 8.1 (all of them used to work for this purpose)
nothing…very annoying indeed

Since you have obviously already performed many firmware updates, there is no need to point out the beginner’s mistake where the zip file ends up on the stick instead of the bin file.
And since you formatted the drive in SQ beforehand, USB seems to be working in general.
So, this is pretty strange, and I’m curious to see how it’s resolved.

Just want to clarify something if I may.

I have read the release notes and instructions but don’t see what I am about to ask.

I have not upgraded to v1.6.0 yet.
Do I need to do this first? Or can I just go straight to v1.6.1 from v1.5.11?
I am only unsure since it is called a Maintenance release and I have had issues on other tech devices where the current latest main firmware version had to be installed before a maintenance release could be implemented on the unit.

Thanks.

You can also update from an older version, as mentioned in the update instructions.

My bad. I read that as a generic instruction not necessarily written specifically in relation to this update.

As you were so.

Thanks.

SQuser has already replied and covered this but yes, every firmware update contains the entire firmware package. You can go backwards, forwards and make firmware version jumps with no issues for our products.
We only differentiate between feature releases and maintenance releases so people know what they’re getting.
