SQ-6+ freezes during live use while recording 32 channels

Hi everyone,

I’ve now had two occasions where my SQ-6+ froze during live use while recording 32 channels at 48 kHz.

I’m not sure what caused it, but I wonder whether the workload could be a factor. The SQ runs internally at 96 kHz, so could converting the recording to 48 kHz add enough processing load to contribute to a freeze? I’m also wondering whether the USB drive’s sustained write speed could be involved.

These are just hypotheses. Has anyone else experienced this, or can you suggest what I should check? In particular, I’d be interested in recommended USB drive specifications and whether there’s any diagnostic information I can collect if it happens again.

I can add the firmware version, drive model and other details if those would help.

This is a known bug and already under investigation.

Is this true, Steffen? It seems to me that A&H has steadfastly refused to investigate anything having to do with the flaky SQ USB recording issues. That function has been a problem for many, many years.
