We just ordered our new QU-6 mixer in November 2025, and upon hearing and researching the SQ+, we have decided to upgrade to the SQ5+. One of the most important features that made us take this leap of faith was the new vocal processing, which will save us a lot of time and work. We want to suggest and highly recommend that the following be added to the new SQ+
- More dedicated libraries./conent that users can quickly access to give them a template/starting point to ‘feel/enjoy’ all these new FX add-ons (Vocalizer, etc.). Coming from the QU-series, this will help us at least have a starting point because most of the parameters offered in these new effects engines, we may not yet be accustomed to. So add e.g Male Trio, Female Trio, Vox+1, Vox+2, etc., presets done by professionals in the live mixing field. Studio effects should also be added so we can bring the studio sound to the live stage.
- A programmable on/off footswitch that we can use to turn on/off the vocal harmonizer or any other effect it is set to control globally. Some of us (sound engineers) are also musicians (keyboard players), and so we mix and play at the same time. Being able to free our hands from some of the mixer controls will help.
- Auto Gain from QU series. This is a must to quickly get us started with SQ, although many SQ users may find this a gimmick, they can simply ignore. Business-wise, this is an incentive for folks like us to ‘graduate’ from QU to SQ.
- Feedback suppressor (same reasoning as point 2 above).
- AUTO LEAD/SOLO (New feature), which allows the mixer to quickly turn up (by say +3db) the slider level/volume of a channel when the musician is taking a solo (or turn down the other active channels by -3db, or a programmable value). This can be engaged either directly on the track by pressing the new Solo/Lead icon on the screen, and/or/and programmed to be activated by the footswitch.
