SQ Drive not recognized on Windows

Hello everyone,

I used my SQ-6 (firmware 1.6.1) to make a multi track recording on a Samsung T3 SSD (also tried with a Kingston Datatraveler G4).

When I plug the drive, the mixer recognizes it and the first time asks me to format it, once formatted, I record and then, when plugging the drive (both the Samsung and Kingston ones), Windows fails to recognize it, while MacOS and Linux are able to mount the drive successfully.

In Windows’ disk manager the partition is shown with a blue label, but Windows doesn’t allow me to assign a drive letter to it.

Looking on internet I cannot find this problem anywhere and I remember being able to update the firmware from 1.5.6 to 1.6.1 with a usb drive formatted by the mixer and then plugged in a Windows pc.

  1. Was the hard drive recognized and usable in this Windows before formatting in the SQ?
  2. Did you only try it on this one Windows PC, or does it happen on all Windows PCs?
  1. yes it was recognized in Windows before formatting, and is recognized again after formatting, in disk manager windows sees the disk correctly but cannot recognize the partition

  2. I tried it on different windows PCs multiple times, before and after trying it with both Linux and MacOS

Unfortunately, I don’t have any further ideas at the moment.
If I were you, I would contact A&H directly and then perhaps post the solution here to potentially help other users with the same problem.
