SQ Mixpad & Control on Android

I’m trying to use a new (Android 14) tablet for either SQ Mixpad or SQ Control, and with either I’m getting “This app won’t work for your device”. I’m having no trouble running the latest SQ Mixpad on my Android 12 phone, so I’m quite perplexed.

Does anyone have a list of requirements?

Is your console on the latest firmware update (1.6)? If not, the newest versions of the apps are not going to connect due to the firmware mismatch.

It’s very likely this is your issue and the app on the phone hasn’t been updated to the latest version, so it still connects with the older firmware version. DO NOT UPDATE the app unless you are going to update the firmware. You will lose the ability to connect your phone to the console if the app updates without updating the firmware.

Thanks, but you misunderstood the problem. The Android tablet wouldn’t even load the application from the Google Play Store.

As it turns out, the apps require a 64 bit processor, which isn’t documented anywhere I could find.

Heck, I though Android 14 only worked on 64bit devices (ie you couldn’t install it on a 32 bit device). I guess that is not true.

Still, it is understandable why developers releasing new apps today would only design them to work with 64bit devices. Google already prevents 32bit apps from being loaded onto 64bit devices. What few 32bit devices are still out there are likely getting pretty old at this point.

I had thought so, too.

However, since Android is open source, I suppose a company could always compile a 32-bit version from source.

Anyway, if a device can directly address more than 4 Gig of RAM, it has to be 64 bit hardware. A useful criteria.
