SQ Mixpad on Tablet shouldn't count as one of our 8 connected devices

Howdy!

We’ve purchased the SQ Rack to run stereo IEMs for 8 musicians, while also running FOH entirely from tablets.

The issue we’ve hit is the 8-device connection limit. Because our FOH tablet takes up one of those connections, we can only have 7 musicians using the SQ4You app at the same time.

It’s a real shame when the SQ Rack has the capability to run up to 12 stereo Aux mixes, but only 7 of them can effectively be controlled by musicians through SQ4You if FOH is also being controlled wirelessly.

Even allowing just one additional connected device would solve our immediate problem and would be FAB! But the dream would be for SQ4You to support enough simultaneous devices to control all of the available Aux mixes.

It feels like such a small limitation on an otherwise incredibly capable product, and one that I’d love to see addressed.

Either that… or introduce an Avantis Rack. I’d happily take that solution too!

Either way, there’s a bit of a gap here that I’d really love to see solved.

Perhaps this would be worth considering also for you:

More than 8 SQ4U Users

I seem to recall A&H stating at some point that the limit wasn’t arbitrary but technically necessary. But the question that arises for me is: Do really all 9 (+3) musicians need to be constantly tweaking their monitor mixes? (From the audience’s perspective, that would looks terrible anyway.) Alternatively, surely it would be possible to grant such access only to the absolute most important maximal 7 musicians, who could never live without it anymore. As a supplement, there could be a stan…
