It is time dear A&H programmers and designers to implement the cc to nrpn translations directly within the hardware mixers. As of the SQ rack release, there’s even more opportunity for the new market expansion! Just about every synth head, groove-box producer or hybrid daw setup needs no fuss midi cc implementation.
Scenarios:
Akai MPC direct usb cable to SQ plug and go - automate instantly anything you want from MPC via midi cc messages on the SQ.
Elektron boxes - Digitakt, Tonverk, Octatrack etc… same as above
All other external midi sequencers drum machines, synths… same as above
SQ rack - killer product that needs new marketing attention and become defacto the norm for stage monitoring device! Minor gripe - can’t directly control faders etc. via midi cc. Simple small interfaces as korg nano series, or even built in faders as on Roland fantom, Korg, Yamaha workstations, MUST be able to directly control levels sends etc on an SQ or QU. Mixers!
I vote for stop relying on fussing about and directly implement (and support) as follows:
-
Direct hardware inbuilt midi cc to nrpn translation within SQ, QU mixer hardware
a) as a separate mode-setting on the midi setup page (could even include the motor off mode for faders to preserve longivity - for mad lfo midi type of cc mixer’s audio level or other massaging)
b) as an insertable plugin cc-nrpn conversion within the mixer’s channels
-
A&H add on small hardware unit - dongle -with inbuilt midi cc to nrpn translation - plug and play - no fussing about (should include a usb hub capability for connecting multiple sources - directly to the usb port of the hw mixer)… and ethernet connection variant or a hybrid - ultimate MIDI controller box… oh and while you’re at it please add midi timecode and midi clock capabilities

Many thanks for consideration!
